Beaches Go Green Student Clubs are youth-led, teacher-supported clubs designed to inspire environmental awareness, leadership, and action on campus and in the community.
These clubs empower middle and high school students to educate their peers, lead initiatives that reduce plastic pollution, and raise awareness of the health risks associated with plastics and environmental toxins. The clubs operate under the belief that education drives change, and that developing leadership skills in students is essential to creating a more sustainable and healthier future.
Each club meets regularly at school, participates in impactful activities, and builds partnerships with local elementary schools to spread eco-education. Activities include:
- Student-led presentations, campaigns, and cleanups
- Creating educational videos for younger students and social media
- Managing eco-events and promoting healthier, low-waste lifestyles
- Participating in the Reusable Bottles for Sports (RBS) initiative
- Spreading awareness of how plastic chemicals affect human health — from endocrine disruption to immune and brain development issues
Clubs also receive support from Beaches Go Green in the form of educational resources, training, club startup kits, and promotional materials. Officers receive community service hours, gain leadership experience, and often become environmental changemakers in their schools.
Why It Matters:
- Protects the health of students and the planet by reducing exposure to plastic toxins
- Equips youth with environmental leadership skills
- Spreads actionable education throughout school campuses and beyond
- Builds a network of passionate student advocates for sustainability
