2025 Green Ambassador Scholarship

The Beaches Go Green organization will award two annual Beaches Go Green GREEN AMBASSADOR Scholarships to deserving high school or current college students; each valued at $2500.00. The Beaches Go Green Board of Directors will select the awarded recipients based on criteria outlined in the guidelines set forth below. The Beaches Go Green GREEN AMBASSADOR Scholarships will be paid one time to each award recipient directly to an accredited post-secondary educational institution as described in Internal Revenue Code 170(b)(1)(A)(ii). Scholarship funds will be applied exclusively for tuition, books, on-campus room and board, fees, supplies, and equipment required for courses at such institutions.

Criteria

The Beaches Go Green GREEN AMBASSADOR Scholarships will be awarded to students who have and demonstrated a significant interest in the protecting and preserving the environment and have made a positive impact through education, programs executed, implemented initiatives and/or other actions that drive the Beaches Go Green Mission. Beaches Go Green will award the scholarship to those students who stand out as advocating stewards of our planet.

  • Applications are accepted only from January 1st--March 31st of each year. There are no exceptions for a submission after the deadline.
  • ward announcements will be made on or prior to May 1st each year. Recipients will be notified by phone and will be mailed an official award letter.
  • Three references will be required as part of the application. The Beaches Go Green Board of Directors will contact each reference as part of the validation process of the submission. No more than one reference may be a family member of the submitter.
  • The Scholarship application form must be completed in its entirety to be eligible.
  • The submission must show in writing, photos, podcast, video and/or a movie how the applicant has made a significant environmental impact and why he or she deserves to earn the Beaches Go Green GREEN AMBASSADOR Scholarship.
  • Recipients of the Beaches Go Green GREEN AMBASSADOR Scholarships may be members of the Beaches Go Green School Club Program; however, students outside of the club program who meet all required criteria are also eligible.
  • Recipients must be currently enrolled in an accredited high school or a post-secondary institution in Northeast Florida.

Guidelines

All scholarships shall be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. In selecting scholarship recipients, Beaches Go Green shall not take into account a candidate’s employment relationship with any person. The following persons and their relatives are not eligible to receive the scholarships: Any past or present directors or employees of the organization, any member of the Board of Directors, or any significant contributors to the organization. The Beaches Go Green organization shall provide each scholarship recipient with a letter notifying him/her of the award, and specifying that all amounts must be used exclusively for tuition, books, on-campus room and board, fees, supplies, and equipment required for courses at a post-secondary educational institution and payable only to the institution. The letter shall inform the student that no funds may be dispersed until Beaches Go Green receives confirmation that the student is enrolled in the educational institution, at which time the funds shall be disbursed to the school for the student’s benefit. The letter shall also describe the reporting requirements set out below and shall specify the date by which the recipient must comply with the reporting requirements. The recipient shall be required to sign and return a copy of the letter indicating his/her acceptance of the scholarship.

Beaches Go Green shall send scholarship checks directly to the educational institution selected by the recipient and shall instruct the institution to deposit the check into the recipient’s school account upon verification of the student’s full-time status. Beaches Go Green does nor intend that scholarship awards be made available directly to students. Scholarship recipients must notify Beaches Go Green of the institution they will be attending within six months after notification of the award. If the recipient does not notify Beaches Go Green by such date or in the event that the recipient does not enroll in the institution selected within six months after notification of the award, the award shall be forfeited. In the event the student withdraws from the institution under circumstances in which the student is entitled to a refund of all or a portion of the amounts paid by Beaches Go Green in connection with the scholarship, the student is responsible for remitting to Beaches Go Green any such refund that he or she receives. Beaches Go Green reserves the right to instruct such institution to pay any such refund directly to Beaches Go Green.
The Beaches Go Green Board of Directors reserves the right to rescind an award should a recipient’s circumstances change, such as a failure to graduate high school or failure to enroll at an accredited institution. The Board reserves the right to withhold the award in the event that nominees are not deemed to meet the qualifications put forth.

Organizing Record Keeping

Beaches Go Green shall keep records, which shall include:

  1. All information that Beaches Go Green secures to evaluation the qualification of potential scholarship recipients.
  2. The name, address and other contact or identifying information for each scholarship recipient.
  3. Any information on relationships that would cause the scholarship recipient to be a disqualified.
  4. The amount and purposes of each scholarship.
  5. A copy of the letter notifying the recipient of the scholarship.
