BEACHES GO GREEN CHANGE MAKER SCHOLARSHIP

Beaches Go Green is awarding (two) $2,500 scholarships each calendar year to current high school seniors and higher education students (trade school, college, or university students) that are members of sanctioned Beaches Go Green Student clubs in Duval or St. Johns Counties. The funds will be used for continuing education. Scholarships are awarded to qualified students who have demonstrated significant commitment to preserving, improving, or providing education on environmental or wildlife conservation or sustainability issues.

Eligibility:

These scholarships are available to specified students who are members of the sanctioned Beaches Go Green Student club in Duval and St Johns Counties. Winning scholarship recipients are required to complete a minimum of (50) non-paid volunteer hours of community service with organizations focused on improving , preserving, or educating on environmental, wildlife, or sustainability issues during the previous calendar year. (NOTE: Volunteering with domestic animals does not apply.) Students are also required to enroll in continuing education after high school (trade school, college, or university) at least part time for the fall semester following the award announcement.

One-Time Award:

Beaches Go Green scholarships are only available one time to each applicant. Winning scholarship recipients may not apply for additional scholarship for subsequent years.

Application Format:

The scholarship application is to be submitted online. Paper applications will not be accepted.

Award Criteria:

Beaches Go Green's motto is to "Healthy Planet, Healthy You" and applicants should demonstrate how they have been used service and education to make their own community healthier. Scholarships are awarded based on various criteria including: proven commitment to environmental & wildlife conservation, community service hours, special projects, how the applicant's volunteer service impacted the organization and any plans for future environmental initiatives.

Scholarship Payments:

Scholarship payments are made directly to the educational institution in which the applicant enrolls for the fall semester (following their award announcement) to pay for tuition. It is the responsibility of the winner to provide Beaches Go Green with the following to receive payment: school name, mailing address of financial aid office, and your student ID number.

Deadline for Payment Requests:

Award recipients must submit their payment request details via email (annemarie@beachesgogreen.org) by December 31st or same calendar year as scholarship is awarded. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of all scholarship funds.

Schedule:

Scholarship applications are accepted January 1 to March 31 at 11:59 PM EST each year. Scholarship winners will be announced on or before April 15 of that same year. Winners must be available to accept the scholarship award in person at his/her school's scholarship award ceremony. Date TBD. Location TBD.
